Martin Luker, Jr., 90, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was born in Romney, Texas on August 31, 1925 to Martin and Lena Luker.
Martin attended Texas A&M, leaving for two years to serve in the United States Army during WWII. He returned to A&M and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, class of '46. After working in Dallas, he moved to Houston and worked for Cox and Blackburn.
He met Helen Schutte at Trinity Lutheran Church Houston Texas in 1948. They were married May 28, 1949 at Trinity. He established Domestic Manufacturing Corp. in January 1953. He continued his work here until February 6, 2016 when illnesses prevented his return.
He and Helen were charter members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church before joining St. Mark Lutheran Church in 1959 where he served God faithfully and generously shared his blessings with others. He was on the Board of Finance for many years. He loved spending
time with his family and at his farm (his "Garden of Eden") fishing, hunting, tending his horses and cows and working.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy Proctor and husband Stacy, and brother Norman Luker and wife Shirley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; son Marty Luker and wife Kay, daughter Kathy Ladwig and husband Kurt, daughter Debbie
Welsh and husband Dan, and son David Luker and wife Joan; grandchildren, Tim Welsh and wife Jen, Ben Ladwig, Adam Luker and wife Lauren, Alex Ladwig and wife Claire, Stephen Welsh and wife Jai', Geoff Luker and wife Laykin, Jillian Herrick and husband Ryan,
and Heidi Luker; great grandchildren, John and Mike Welsh, and Will Luker; and numerous relatives and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5 until 8 o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 17th of March at Waltrip Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be conducted at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl Blvd. in Houston
at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 18th of March with Pastor Timothy Duerr officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Martin's name to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl Blvd., Houston, TX 77055, Lutheran Hour
