Patrick Drake(1924 - 2016)
DRAKE, Patrick Patrick H. Drake of Heath, TX, passed away on February 19, 2016. Born an identical twin on March 15, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, Pat was the last surviving of six sons born to Charles and Ola Drake. He was a veteran of WWII, stationed in Deopham Green, England as a member of the 452nd Bomber Group and served in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sargent, gunnery instructor and lower turret gunner, flying on many B-17 bombing raids over Germany. After the war, Pat spent some time at seminary school, but left to work and later marry Sonja Gottwald, his wife of almost 65 years. Pat attended Texas A&M University where he received degrees in both Architecture and Civil Engineering. He retired from Brockette/Davis/Drake Engineering in 1983. Pat was an avid golfer and square dancer and he loved to snow ski. He is survived by his wife, Sonja, two children, Susan Whipple and husband Tom, Patrick Drake Jr. and wife Becky, and one grandchild, Madison Drake. Visitation and rosary on Friday, February 26th from 6-8 pm (rosary at 7) at Rest Haven Funeral Home located at 2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, TX. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 27th at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church located at 1305 Damascus Road, Rockwall, TX followed immediately by interment at Rest Haven.
