Bret Bunker ’96 has been named 2016 Teacher of the Year at Boerne High School. He began his
teaching career 12 years ago at BHS teaching Special Education classes. Currently, he teaches AP and on level history classes.
At BHS, Bunker serves as the Social Studies Department Chair. He also serves as Campus Apps
Facilitator, Academic UIL Social Studies and Current Events Coach and Site Based Committee
member. At the district level, he has served on the Long Range Technology Planning Committee, the
GPA Committee, and the GT Advisory Committee.
Bunker earned his BA in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and his teaching certification from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Away from the classroom, Bunker spends time enjoying his family.
