Camarillo, CA

Andres (Andy) Pedro Carrillo, age 78, a longtime resident of Camarillo, CA, died on February 1, 2016 at St. John's Regional Medical Center of a heart attack after defeating lung cancer for 9 years. Andy was born in Havana, Cuba, and attended Texas A&M at the time of the Cuban revolution. His family emigrated to the United States. He married Vickie, his wife of 51 years in Houston, Texas, in 1964. Andy and Vickie moved to California in 1968 where Andy had a career in agriculture. Andy loved a good political argument and was not shy with his opinions. He became a proud citizen of the United States in the 60's. If anyone needed grocery shopping advice on where to get the best deals, he was their man. He was a long time vegetable gardener, growing enough vegetables for his family and all of his friends. After retirement, Andy volunteered with Many Meals, Oasis and Catholic Services. Andy lived his faith by serving others in his community. When celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014, Andy felt he was a blessed man, proud of who his children had become and full of joy for his 9 grandchildren. Andy was a family man. He would do anything for his children and grandchildren.

He leaves his wife Vickie; his daughter Tracey Carrillo Fecher and her husband Dave; his son David Carrillo and his wife Mercy; his son Thomas Carrillo and his wife Christine; his son Matthew Carrillo and his wife Stephanie; his 9 grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Elisa, Scott, Cash, Christopher, Ali, Max and Sydney; his sister Alina (Phil) Lapinski ; his brother Antonio (Maria Elena) Carrillo; his brother Alberto (Patricia) Carrillo; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 am, at St. Mary Magdalene Chapel in Camarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Many Meals, St Vincent de Paul of Padre Serra Parish, St Vincent de Paul of St Mary's Parish, or favorite charity that serves those less fortunate.
