George K. Zelios(1928 - 2015)
ZELIOS, George K. George K. Zelios was born November 2, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away September 4, 2015. George "The Greek" Zelios lived larger than life. He travelled all over the world on grand adventures. He would walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with friends. He loved to hand out two dollar bills and proudly gave away his fabulous homemade sugared pecans. His favorite pastime was hunting, and his great joy was making candy for neighbors and friends. He never tired of telling others how long he and Betty had been married. George's father was Jesse Zelios. His mother was Orania Zelios. They were first generation Americans of Greek descent and were both born in the seaport of Canakkale, Turkey. He is survived by his dear wife Betty Jean Wimbley Zelios. They were happily married for 66 years. He leaves two daughters and one son: Zoe Ann Homeyer, and husband Bill; Vicki Jill Brooks, and husband Brent; and Dan George Zelios, and wife Leda. "Popoo" will never be forgotten by his grandchildren Alycia, Michael and wife Erin, Abby and husband David, Jordi and husband Brady, Stacie and husband Brett, and Zach. He was especially delighted by his great-grandchildren Eli, Josiah, and Blake. He is also survived by his nephews Bill and wife Brigid and children Jonathan and Stephanie, and Kim and wife Terri and their child, Alexandra, and nieces Evie and husband Jim, and Johanna and husband Tom. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Nick and Gregory and by his sister Helen. George was a life insurance agent from 1956 to the present, a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table, and a fellow of the Life Underwriters Training Council. He was an active member of Highlands Christian Church since the early 1960's. George asked his family to send his best wishes to all his friends and clients he knew over the years.
