"She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25

Louise Adele Davis Dermody lived her life to the fullest, exemplifying strength and courage. After a long and fearless battle with cancer, Louise became one of our heavenly treasures on Oct. 5, 2015.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Chris Roque officiating.

Louise was born Jan. 24, 1966, in San Angelo, Texas, to Nancy Wilson Davis and Richard W. Davis. She graduated from Winters High School in 1984, attended Texas Tech University before transferring and graduating from Texas A&M University in 1988, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics.

Louise married Dean Colyer Dermody on June 9, 1990, and they began their life together in Sonora. Louise received her teaching certificate as well as her Master's Degree in Mid-Management Education from Angelo State University. She later received her master reading teacher certification from Texas A&M University followed by her superintendent certification. She began her career teaching 3rd grade at Sonora Elementary in 1990, and served as the elementary school principal from 1998 to 2013. Recently in 2014, she was named Chief Academic Officer for Sonora ISD.

Louise was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. She was a woman of many passions, but none greater than the love for her family. She motivated her children to succeed in all aspects of their lives including academic achievement, athletic competition and theatrical accomplishments. Louise enjoyed traveling and organized many family trips domestic and abroad. She saw God's glory on the mountains snow skiing, in the oceans scuba diving, and on the beaches watching the sunset. Louise loved all of God's creations. Her desire to have beautiful flowers and landscaping were present everywhere she lived and worked. Animals of all shapes and sizes were rescued, loved and raised in her home and at the ranch. She never found a stray animal that she was not willing to adopt. Louise had a heart of generosity and compassion for all those in need. During her short life and career, she touched generations of students, parents and grandparents with her love for education and the betterment of those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, students and many friends.

Louise served her Sonora community in many capacities. She was a board member of the Good Samaritan Community Services as well as the Child Welfare Board. She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. In 2002 the Sonora Chamber of Commerce recognized her as Employee of the Year. Louise was very involved in her church where she was currently serving as the Senior

Warden at St. John's Episcopal Church. She also served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, Lay Reader and was a member of The Order of St. Luke, Daughters of the King and Women of St. John's.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Wilhelm Davis of San Angelo, Texas; her grandparents, Adele Kyle and Ira Duke Wilson of Sonora, Texas, Victoria Louise Wilhelm Davis of Menard, Texas, and A.J. Davis of Austin, Texas; and her mother-in-law, Raye Davidson Dermody.
