Jimmy Dean
Jimmy Dean passed away on Sept. 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Jimmy was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Bryan to Dan and Norma Dean. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Oatie Dean, of Athens, and Leland and Carrie Mae Dawson, of Lake Jackson.
Jimmy graduated in 1973 from Brazoswood High School, where he began an outstanding football career. After being named First Team All-State (on both offense and defense), Greater Houston Area Player-of-the Year, and High School All-American, he went on to attend
Texas A&M on an athletic scholarship. While there, he was a four-year standout defensive tackle and named team captain his senior year. In 1975, he was a key part of A&M's defense, which was rated No. 1 in the nation. He was drafted into the NFL, where he
played for the Houston Oilers until an injury ended his career prematurely.
Jimmy worked in real estate and land development for 20-plus years. He then spent several years at Leo Martin Chevrolet in Lake Jackson. Most recently, he was employed by Percheron Field Services as a senior right-of-way agent, where he also made many wonderful
and supportive friends.
Jimmy is survived by his parents; his wife, Donna Robison Dean; his daughters, Jennifer Kingsriter and her husband Barrett, Elizabeth Lackey and her husband Dillon; his stepdaughter, Megan Gandy and her husband Josh; his sisters, Patricia Dean Bay and her husband
Walter, Robin Dean Barbree and her husband James; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Myra Robison; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Johnie and Sue Robison. He had five granddaughters whom he adored, Katherine, Brooklyn, Grace, Rowdy and
Robby.
