Bob Halbert Byrd
September 7, 1925 - March 19, 2015

Bob Halbert Byrd, 89,of Ruidoso passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. He was born September 7, 1925 at San Angelo, Texas to Homer and Sulena(Halbert) Byrd who precede him in death. Upon graduating from high school Bob joined the Army Air Corp and flew 26 missions over Japan as a gunner. When he was separated from the service he returned home and started a career in cattle and sheep ranching. He loved to fish, golf and travel.

He is survived by his sons, Bob Halbert Byrd Jr. and his wife, Denise of Corona and Michael Byrd of Roswell; step-daughter, Kim Isaacks and her husband David of Ruidoso; step-son, Mark LaMoria of Port LaVaca, Texas; daughter-in-law, Judy Byrd of Vaughn; grandchildren, Robbie, Jason and Colin Byrd, Shannon Lightfoot and Candice Roberts, Marc Quist, Nathan Isaacks, Samantha Quist, Adam Isaacks, Trae Quist and Amanda Isaacks and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Betty Windstead Byrd and Dixie Elledge Byrd.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 24, at 1:00 PM in LaGrone Funeral Chapel with private entombment on Wednesday, March 25, at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

The family has requested memorials to the New Mexico Boys Ranch or a charity of your choice.
