Whitney Aurora Wheeler, 29, passed away June 11, 2015 after a year-long battle with cancer. The only child of Larry and Anita Wheeler, she was born February 3, 1986 in Irving, Texas, and grew up in Coppell, graduating from Coppell High School in 2004. She proudly
wore her Aggie ring having graduated in 2008 from Texas A&M, College Station, with a BA in Communication. She then worked for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation—Northeast Texas Chapter before joining TXU Energy in 2012 where she had been recently promoted.
This was not Whitney’s first battle with cancer. As a 2-year-old, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, and against all odds, she overcame it and grew up to be a beautiful, sweet, and kind spirit as well as a most loyal friend.
As a child, Whitney loved watching “I Love Lucy” reruns and eating macaroni and cheese, which, as an adult, she traded in for Starbucks mocha frapps. She was frequently seen walking her Dalmatians in the neighborhood, riding horseback on weekends, or attending
her daily exercise classes at Pure Barre, but she was never seen driving anything but Jeeps. Her signature look was five-inch heels, big sunglasses, and a friendly smile. In short, when Whitney smiled at the world, the world smiled with her, especially at
Starbucks.
She is survived by her parents Larry and Anita Wheeler of Coppell; aunts and uncles, JoAnn Arthur, Marc and Susan DeChellis, Tony and Mary DeChellis, Teresa and Rick Brumfield; cousins Renee, Michael, Matthew, Danielle, Natalie, John, Annemarie, Blake and Tyler,
special friends Becky and Ken Polk; her Dalmatians Oliver and Frida; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Uncle Bob, and treasured Dalmatian Lucy. Special thanks to Dr. James Brugarolas, Linda
Hawkins, RN, and many others at UTSW.
