John Mogford
April 30, 1940 - May 7, 2015
Funeral services for John L. Mogford, Jr. were held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Carrizo Springs at 11:00 a.m. Larry was born April 30, 1940 to John L. Mogford and Mary E. (Rogers) Mogford in Monohans, Texas. He lived much of his life
in Carrizo Springs where he was an attorney and rancher. Larry attended school in Carrizo Springs and graduated from Carrizo Springs High School. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1964. He was also a graduate of St. Mary's Law School and practiced
in San Antonio for many years. He served in the U.S. Army with the Texas National Guard when his unit was called to active duty. Larry also ranched in the local area for many years. He died on May 7, 2015 following an extended illness and was 75 years of age.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Beth (Walker) Mogford of Asherton; one son, John Mitchell Mogford of Spring Branch; one daughter, Mollie Mogford, of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Mary Lynn Mogford of Colliersville, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren and numerous
nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Rev. Jonathan Hewett, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Carrizo Springs, officiated at the funeral services. His message of "Intellectual Curiosity" was a tribute to Larry and a challenge to all. The interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs
under the direction of the Leonard Funeral Home, a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule.
