Roll Call Tribute

Jack Simmons '51 April 20, 2015 9:46 AM

Published in Dallas Morning News on Apr. 19, 2015

Jackie Lee "Jack" Simmons(1930 - 2015)
SIMMONS, Jackie Lee "Jack" Jackie Lee "Jack" Simmons of Coppell, Texas, took his final bow Friday, April 17, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Born April 2, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas to Arthur Lee Simmons and Mary Davis Shurman Simmons, Jack grew up in Hereford, Texas, with a love for Texas land and Texas football. Jack married the woman who stole his heart, Agnes Carroll Cummins, on September 23, 1950 in Taft, Texas. He had a secret love of acting, an instinct for business, and an eye for Texas real estate. Jack studied business at Texas A&M (gig 'em!) and later received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. Jack founded Property Tax Service Company in 1970 where he served as President and Chairman of the Board. One of his proudest accomplishments was his involvement in the creation of the Early Learning Center at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Boerne, Texas. The man loved football. Golf was his other love. He made many friends on the golf course and really believed golf to be a lifelong game. During his retirement, Jack acted in numerous community theater productions in Boerne, Bulverde, Comfort, and Coppell. Jack enjoyed the comedies and those who knew him will forever thank him for his many years of service protecting them from boredom. Jack is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Carroll Simmons Benham, Lee Maurice Simmons, Keith Dwayne Simmons, Jesse Ray Simmons and Elizabeth Mary Simmons; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Jack's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Coppell. Interment will follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Early Learning Center of St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road, Boerne, TX 78006. For online condolences please visit www.mulkeymason.com.
