DARRELL CAMPBELL(1961 - 2014)
DARRELL CAMPBELL Darrell Campbell, former local business man, died unexpectedly Monday, June 2, 2014, at his mothers' home in McAllen. He was 52 years old. Darrell was born October 3, 1961 in Austin, TX to Martha Nell Campbell (nee Richards) and Monte Carroll Campbell, deceased. He grew up and graduated high school, class of 1980 in Canon City, CO. He attended The University of Southern Colorado, Baylor University and Texas A&M University class of 1987. With a gifted mind for business, Darrell was a true entrepreneur turning ideas into successful companies. He started his first business VideOmega while in college at Texas A&M and never looked back. He went on to be a leader in the business community and mentor to many. His numerous businesses include: CableTime, Autolocal.com, TVTime, Cablemart.com, Natural Composites, College Station, TX; High Country Metal Buildings, Box Office Video, Buena Vista, CO; EveryCarListed.com Tyler, TX; Partner in RVE Friends, Ltd, College Station, TX; Partner in JD Investments, Bryan, TX; Partner in CT Cattle Company, Hearne, TX. Darrell served on several corporate board of directors including: First National Bank, Bryan, TX, TCA Cable, Tyler, TX. He lectured on entrepreneurial leadership at a number of universities. He was proud to be a business owner who by providing jobs allowed people to provide for their families. He was committed to community service as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and spent countless hours leading youth sports, participating in church missions, and discipling others. While reaching many pinnacles in the business world, the most important thing to Darrell was his family, but his family didn't just include those related to him. He had "family' in everyone he met. An avid outdoorsman, he loved bird hunting. He was never more excited than the flush of a covey of pheasant as he walked through the corn fields. However, he was even more excited when he could help a new hunter get their first bird. Darrell hated bullies and fought for those who couldn't fight for themselves. He saw the injustice in the world and used his resources to end them one person at a time. He was a bright star in this world but he knew this was not his home. He trusted Christ at a young age and knew without a doubt that his true home was in heaven. He looked forward to the day he would take his trip there.
