Dr. Edward Guy Batte 
(February 4, 1921 - November 9, 2014)

Edward Guy Batte, DVM age 93, of Southern Pines, NC, died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Penick Village in Southern Pines.

He was born Ennis County, TX on February 4, 1921, to the late Edd Batte and Ola Nolan Batte. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Goodlett Batte. Dr. Batte is survived daughter Margaret Batte Moore of the Asbury Community in Chatham County.

He served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was captured at Kaiserine Pass in the North Africa campaign by Rommel. Then he was transported to the POW Camp for officers in Poland, which used to be a Boarding School. The POW Camp was liberated by General Patton near the end of WWII. After WWII he graduated from Veterinary School at Texas A&M. He did veterinary research at NCSU in Raleigh, NC and made significant progress on the development and testing of dewormers in animals. His research was studied worldwide. Dr. Batte was a well respected professor in Parasitology. Dr. Batte married Elizabeth Goodlette from Waxahatchie, TX on July 11, 1942. He was active in White Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Raleigh Kiwanis Club and the Raleigh Power Squadron Boat safety club. Dr. Batte will be remembered as a kind and caring man.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Buffalo Cemetery with Dr. Troy Lesher-Thomas presiding. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Penick Village Chapel in Southern Pines, NC. The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2014 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 6PM to 7PM.
