SHELLEY EUBANKS POTTER ELECTED AS CHI OMEGA
NATIONAL PRESIDENT FOR 2014-2016 BIENNIUM
Shelley Eubanks Potter has been elected to serve as Chi Omega Fraternity’s National President for the 2014-2016 biennium. She brings twelve years of previous service on the Supreme Governing Council of Chi Omega, as well as many years of national and local volunteer involvement.
Potter was initiated into Xi Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega at Texas A&M University as a founding member and served as recruitment chair, vice-president, and president. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. Upon graduation, Potter traveled as a National Consultant for Chi Omega.
Most recently, Potter served as President of the Chi Omega Foundation from 2010-2014. Prior to serving the Foundation, she held many important roles for the Fraternity. From 1994 to 1998, she was elected to serve on the Governing Council as national secretary and from 1998-2000, she served as national vice president. In 2000, she joined Chi Omega’s National Panhellenic Conference delegation and served in that role until 2004 when she returned to the Governing Council and served again as national vice president from 2004 -2010. During those years, she was a member of The Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega Team, the Book of Rules Task Force, the G.T.B. Task Force, the Chair of the Bylaws Task Force, and liaison to the National Recruitment Team. She is a member of The 1895 Society and the Margaret Hyde Heritage Society of Chi Omega.
Potter’s Chi Omega alumnae involvement also includes serving as President of the Longview, TX, Alumnae Chapter of Chi Omega and serving on the House Corporation Board for Xi Kappa Chapter.
Professionally, she is President of POTTER Architecture, and serves on the Garden and Grounds Committee at the Dallas Arboretum. She and her husband were honored in their field as Outstanding Alumni for the College of Architecture at Texas A&M, becoming the first couple to be so honored. She also was honored in 2011 with the Women’s Legacy Award presented by Texas A&M Women’s Former Student Network.
In her community, Potter’s volunteer involvement includes numerous positions on the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Board of Directors and as its Chair in 2009.
She currently serves as Vice President of the Greek Former Student Network, an organization she started to develop visibility of Greeks on the campus of Texas A&M. She has also served the City of Longview, Texas on its Planning and Zoning commission and in leadership positions, including President, with the Junior League of Longview, the Longview 2020 Forum and as President of the Longview Area Chi Omega Alumnae Association. She is currently a member of the Dallas Chi Omega Alumnae Association.
Potter resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband, Jeff.
Chi Omega’s Governing Council consists of five elected officers who are directly responsible for policy-making and business operations. The Council members are dedicated volunteers who work day-to-day with the Executive Headquarters staff, national committees and volunteers.
