John Randy Kelder
December 6, 1949 - June 16, 2014
John Randy Kelder, passed from this life on June 16, 2014. He was born December 6,1949 in Belton, Texas, the son of George M. and Melba Springer Kelder.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, George M. Kelder Sr., a brother Michael Lynn Kelder, and a nephew, Michael Lynn Kelder Jr.
Randy is survived by his mother of Killeen, a brother, Melverne "Mel" Kelder and wife Susan of Belton; three nephews John Kelder of Austin, Tanner Kelder of College Station and David McBride Kelder of Copperas Cove. three nieces; Whitney Galvin and husband
Ash of Belton, Kylie Kelder of Irving, and Stacie Ann Norman of Austin; seven great nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Killeen High School in 1968. While at KHS he was active in Future Farmers of America where he was awarded the Lone Star Farmer Degree. In 1972 he graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education from Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M he was involved
with the Aggie Rodeo Club, Saddle and Sirloin Club, and Collegiate FFA.
He was a Vocational Ag teacher in several school districts before focusing his career on buying and selling show lambs to the many 4-H and FFA kids that he loved helping. During the last 45 years, Randy's lambs were champions at local and county shows as well
as State Fairs in Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois. The highlight of his career came in 2009, when one of his lambs won Grand Champion at the Houston Livestock Show.
Randy was a reader of all major newspapers and kept up with the world of sports. He especially enjoyed talking about the Texas Aggies and Texas Rangers. He was an avid golfer and spent many hours watching golf when he couldn't play himself.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 18 from 5-8pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, Texas. Services will be 2pm Thursday June 19, at Southside Church of Christ, Killeen, Texas.
