HERBERT BARTEL
Dr. Herbert H. Bartel, Jr., beloved father and devoted husband, was born on March 31, 1924 and passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Angus Bartel, in May of 2011. He received his bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University, masters from University of Texas, and doctorate from Texas A&M University. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seabee. Herbert was a Civil Engineering Professor who taught 26 years at Southern Methodist University and 30 years at University of Texas at El Paso. Survivors include his twin daughters Peggy Bartel Hunter and Kathy Bartel Najera; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Coronado Christian Church, 118 Belvidere St., with Pastor Gordon Wofford officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, New Mexico 88008.
