Roy Nyal Pittman, Ph.D
(June 26, 1947 - February 4, 2014)
Griffin, GA; – Services for Mr. Roy Nyal Pittman, PhD of Griffin, GA will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Peppers Family Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis, TX with Minister Mark Lance, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX under the direction of Peppers Family Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. \
Mr. Pittman, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014.
Roy Pittman was born June 26, 1947 in Amarillo, TX, to the late Mr. Luther Pittman and Mrs Rachel (Sweatt) Pittman. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1966, and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Science from Texas A & M in 1970. He then furthered his education and received his Masters of Science degree from West Texas State in 1974, and his Ph.D from Oklahoma State in 1978. Roy retired from the USDA-ARS as an Agronomist/Peanut Curator in 2014. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his brother, Billy Pittman of Amarillo, TX; 2 nephews, Kyle Pittman of Amarillo, TX, and Schuyler Pittman and wife, Rei of Alburquerque, NM.
The family suggest memorials be sent to Amarillo Botanical Gardens, 1400 Streit Dr, Amarillo, TX 79106.
