Brief Description of your business: Complete Landscape Design/Build Firm specializing in Creating Outdoor Living Environments.
When did you start your business and how did you successfully turn your passion into a successful enterprise?
This is always the hardest (and most common) question for me to answer. I have been in “business” my entire life. From the time I was 12 years old I have worked in the Green Industry starting out by
mowing lawns and small clean-up projects. In 2003, I officially went into business as Stewart Land Designs. The company formation was a natural progression for me. Passion for the outdoors has always been at the forefront of the company success. Anytime you can share the vision and passion for your service or product to the consumer and deliver above the expectation you will be successful.
What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make?
Seeing folks light up when they see the finished product is very exciting to me and to our team. There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to take something that is useless and dysfunctional and bringing life and value to it.
What was the biggest challenge for your business?
One of the challenges we have faced as a company is educating the consumer on the importance of our
service. In an industry where the standard is sometimes perceived in a negative way, we take time to inform the consumer of How and Why we are different.
Do you currently have any expansion plans(geographic)?
At this time we have big plans to expand our current facility, but no plans at this time to move
outside of our current geographical location.
How has your time at Texas A&M impacted where you are today professionally?
This is one of the easiest questions to answer! Texas A&M has such a presence and the traditions held by Aggies resonate among folks almost everywhere you go. Being an Aggie is not only a title you receive by attending Texas A&M, but it is a lifestyle and a character trait that really defines who you are and how you live life. Having a degree from Texas A&M has impacted many business deals we have made, and has helped to mold the direction of our company in a way that only an Aggie could understand.
