Milton Edward Lindner, aged 85, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 14, 1927, in Comfort, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1948. He is predeceased by his parents Eddie and Frieda (Below) Lindner, brother Francis (Mike) Lindner, wife Marian Gross Lindner, and granddaughter Jennifer Jane Farmer. Milton is survived by his wife, Charlotte Lindner, daughters Nancy Sterling (husband Peter), Janice Lindner, Angie Jones (husband Brian), son John Lindner (wife Melissa), sister Irene Kaiser, brother Stanley Lindner, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Milton was raised in Comfort, Texas and developed a strong German work ethic at a very early age. Working on the family farm and in numerous retail jobs, he exemplified commitment and dedication. German was his first language, only learning English after he started grade school. He graduated as Valedictorian from Comfort High School.

Milton enlisted in the U S Navy in August 1945 during WWII, then completed his education before being recalled to service for two years during the Korean conflict. During the early years of his business career he was employed by Burroughs Machine Company, W-K-M Valve Company (now a division of Cameron) and The Houston Post (for 33 years). After the newspaper was sold he found his true calling - sales.

Milton was a devoted Aggie. He started his academic studies at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College (now A&M) at the young age of 16 in 1944 and made the basketball team. He was a lifelong season ticket holder to A&M football games and served as President of the Houston A&M Club and fostered the growth of the Galveston A&M Club. Aggies are big on traditions and Milton certainly started one in the Lindner family; he influenced numerous Aggies to follow in his footsteps including his son (and many of his friends), daughter-in-law( and her sisters), grandson, granddaughter, and nieces.

Milton was also a gifted athlete. He excelled in volleyball, basketball, softball and handball. He was active in the Houston Downtown YMCA, where he played competitive handball, for many years and served as an officer.

Milton was a lifelong Southern Baptist (a charter member and deacon of Willow Meadows Baptist Church, Houston), but faithfully attended Chapelwood UMC, Houston, for over a decade. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 31, 2013, Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, Texas.
