Dr. Robert Michael Williamson

Robert Michael Williamson, Ph.D., died in College Station on Friday, Feb. 8.

He was born on April 25, 1930, the son of Asa Guy and Ina Hazel Williamson of Dike. They preceded him in death.

He served in the First Armored Division of the United States 4th Army at Fort Hood. While stationed at Fort Hood, he married Jo Bourland. She survives.

He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s of arts degree from East Texas State College, a therapist certification at Sam Houston State University and a doctor of philosophy from Texas A&M University in College Station.

He was a professional educator and a licensed public therapist. His career included tenures as a teacher, counselor and administrator in public schools, a private learning institution and two colleges in Houston, Spring and Hunstville. Upon retiring, he was a literary arts consultant in College Station.

He was a master mason in good standing.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Williamson is survived by three sons, Ronald Williamson, Richard Williamson and Randal Williamson; five grandchildren, Reye, Ethan, Spencer, Katelyn and Asa; a great-granddaughter, Hazel Martha; and a sister, Janie Godfrey of Sulphur Springs.

Dr. Williamson’s remains were dontated to Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station.
