Emmons, Claude D. IRVING -- Claude D. Emmons, 93, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his Lord April 23, 2013. Service: 2pm Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Plymouth Park Church of Christ, 1710 W. Airport Frwy., Irving TX. Visitation: 1-2pm before the service, on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridgeway Hospice, 150 W. Magnolia Av., Fort Worth, TX. 76104. Claude D. Emmons was born in Wichita Falls, Tx. December 27, 1919 to William Mark and Minnie Bell Holt Emmons. Claude graduated from Plainview High School in 1937 and Texas A&M University in 1941. He served in World War II in the 7th Armored Division European Theatre and obtained the rank of Major. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was later wounded, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and other decorations. After the war he was a businessman in Amherst and Hurst Texas. He was a Director of the National Assoc. of Independent Fee Appraisers and was National Appraiser of the Year in 1988. Claude was a faithful long-time member of Plymouth Park Church of Christ. Preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Elliott Emmons of 55 years, and wife, Myrtie Britain Emmons of 13 years. Survivors: daughter, Claudia Gleeson and husband, Charles; son, Mark Emmons and wife, Shari; granddaughters, Charlyn Plunk and husband, Jake, Heather Humphus, Janet Spence and husband, Mark; great grandchildren Branson, Tatum, Cortlyn Plunk; Collin, Brooke Humphus; Parker and Jonathan Spence. Stepson Chuck Britain and wife, Donna and their daughter Lori and husband, Mark Gorman. The family give special thanks to caregivers Gwen Wilson, Amber Merchant, Denise Burns, Vee Wilson and Bridgeway Hospice, for their loving care of Claude.
