Larry George Burns

Larry George Burns, age 69, of Temple, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a long fight against lung cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2407 West Ave. P, Temple, Texas, 76504. Following the memorial, a private burial service will be held at the graveside in the Mitchell Cemetery,
Iredell, Texas.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army, P.O.Box 1884, Temple, Texas, 76503 or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Born in Iredell, Texas, May 15, 1943, to Richard and Ruby Burns. Larry was an excellent student, and a talented athlete. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1965 from Texas A & M University.
He worked first in pharmaceutical sales, and then in automobile sales, until retiring in 2010. He married Bettye Burns in 2006. Larry was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, car enthusiast, country and western music fan and an excellent cook who prepared hearty "Texas-style"
meals for friends and family. He loved rooting for the Texas A&M football team and enjoyed taking weekend trips to San Antonio. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Temple.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bettye; children, Brett Burns of San Francisco, CA, Barry Burns of San Antonio, Susanne Burns Guidry of Brownwood and Matthew Burns of Dallas; stepchildren, Greg Corse of San Antonio, Angie Norman of Alvin and Kristi Alexander
of Houston; three grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild and number of other relatives and many friends.
