Charles B. Martin Jr. LUBBOCK-Charles B. Martin Jr., 91, of Plainview passed away on Aug. 22, 2012, in Plainview. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart officiating and Dr. Tim Marrow assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held today, Aug. 24, 2012, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Charles B. Martin Jr. was born on Nov. 14, 1920 in Waco, Texas, to Charles and Pat Martin. Mr. Martin graduated from Texas A&M University in 1943. He was a World War II veteran and past county agent for Oldam County. In 1944, he married the love of his life, LaVerne Gregory, in Petersburg, Texas. He was the owner of a gas distributorship in Edmonson and Hart, Texas. He later managed the Nanny Farms for 30 years. He retired to his ranch in San Saba, Texas, in 1981, and later pursued his ranching interest in New Mexico. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and a great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laverne Gregory Martin; two sons and their wives, Mark and Carol Martin of San Saba, Texas, and Doug and Erin Martin of Plainview, Texas; and five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Jim and Amy Faught, Paige, John and Jake of San Saba, Texas, Larry and Christa Triplett, Zach and Kenny of San Saba, Texas, Russell and Emily Foreman, Cooper, Connor, Marcus and Brynlee of Friendswood, Texas, Brad and Kara Martin, Braden, Cole and Adri of Plainview, Texas, Gerardo and Natalie Zavala, and Sofia and Nicholas of San Antonio, Texas.
