Tafoya
Richard Tafoya died Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4, at Lambs Fold Church with Pastor Gordon Nelms officiating, and under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
Mr. Tafoya was born June 14, 1947, in Henderson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked for the Forestry Department in Alaska, before he retired.
He was a beekeeper, and loved to garden and rescue animals. He graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree.
Mr. Tafoya was survived by his wife Diana Tafoya of Mount Pleasant, his mother Sarah Van Wey, son and daughter-in-law Ricard Tafoya Jr. and Nicole, son Isaac Tafoya, son and daughter-in-law [Bryan and Ashton Tafoya, daughter] Stacy Tafoya and John Hasse, and
daughter and son-in-law Hope and Gregg Thomas. Other survivors include: grandchildren Max Tafoya, Stephanie and Coleman Bailey, Moriah and Malachi Hasse, Diana Grace and Scarlett Tafoya, brother and sister-in-law Mike and Mary Ruth Tafoya, sisters and brothers-in-law
Millie and Wayne Black, Mary Dell and Luke Guest, Sharon and Tommy King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Other survivors include mother-in-law Geneva Atkins, sisters-in-law and spouses Wynelle Stamper, Janelle and Robert Linker, Johnnie and Gaylon Cameron, and Janice and George Billings; and special friends Danny and Billie Crump.
He was preceded in death by his father Pedro Tafoya, stepfather Charles Van Wey, father-in-law John Atkins, grandmother Eva Morton, his great-grandparents, grandmother-in-law Mainie Raines and nephew Tony Black; great niece Maggie Schneider, nephew-in-law Stephen
Stamper, sister-in-law Margaret Serivner, and niece-in-law Renee Stamper Ross.
