Fredrick Pearce Henry
No services are scheduled for Fredrick Pearce Henry, 81. Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Henry died June 27, 2012. He was born July 24, 1930, in Houston and attended schools in Houston, Camp Wood, Pasadena and Dallas and graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1947. He then attended Texas A&M, where he graduated in 1951. He then went
into the Air Force for pilot training and went to Korea, where he flew 52 combat missions in the F-84 before the war ended. He then served six years in the air training command and then flew B-47s for four years in the Strategic Air Command. He then served
as the assistant air attache in the Embassy in Tananarive, Madagascar. After this, he flew B-52s out of Dyess AFB in Texas. During this time, he flew 73 ARC-Light Missions over Southeast Asia during 1969-1970. He retired from the Air Force in 1971. His military
decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with clusters, plus other ribbons and medals.
After retirement, he attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and added 65 hours to his undergraduate degree and got certified as a teacher. He then received a master's degree in history. He got a job at Manor Junior High, teaching history from 1973 until
he retired in 1988. Since then, he just lived.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; two sons, Bruce and William; and a beloved granddaughter, Catherine Henry.
