James William Kerr, 83, passed away in Houston, Texas on Thursday, March 30th, 2006. He was born on April 23rd, 1922 in Beaumont, Texas to Bergetta Carls and John Cunningham Kerr.
Jim entered the U.S. Army on June 23, 1942. He was discharged from the Army in 1943 so he could accept a commission to join the Army Air Corps where he served as a pilot during World War II until receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1945. He was a member of
the B-26 Marauder Group. Jim was awarded the ETO ribbon with three battle stars, the Air Medal with eleven oak leaf clusters, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He flew 64 combat missions, fourteen were flight leads and four were deputy group leads.
