William Rice "Bill" Nelson, age 92, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Born on March 28, 1920 in McKinney, TX, he was the son of Otis Eugene Nelson and Mary Jane Rice Nelson. Bill was a very proud graduate of Texas A & M, class of 1941, and
a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. After the war, he accepted a position at Texaco where, as a professional engineer, he worked in many different countries in North America, Europe, and Africa for over 30 years. He was a member of
the American Petroleum Institute and several other professional organizations. A 32 year resident of Boerne, he was very civic minded. He was a member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church, instrumental in the development of the Boerne Community Center, a Paul Harris
Fellow in the Boerne Rotary Club, named Boerne Citizen of the Year for 1982 and 1987, and an active member of the Boerne Chamber of Commerce, the Kendall County United Way and the Boerne Grange. Bill continued his commitment to Texas A & M University by funding
scholarships to chemical engineering students. Preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Mary Frances Nelson, Bill is survived by his daughters, Nancy Muil and husband, Robb, and Brenda Jordan and husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Erin Kathleen Muil, Leigh
Catherine Muil, Benjamin Jordan and Bradley Jordan; sister, Gladys George. The family would like to express its gratitude to Papa's caregivers Terry, Libby, Ashley, and Julie for their outstanding assistance that allowed him to live safely, comfortable, and
happily for the past year. The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 28 at St. Mark Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Brundeen, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Memorials be made to the St. Mark Presbyterian
