Ret. Col. Freddie A. Wolters

Ret. Col. Freddie A. Wolters, 91, passed away Sunday, March 11, at Hudson Creek Care Center in Bryan.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday, March 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. John Free officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at College Station Cemetery. A reception at the funeral home will follow the graveside.
Freddie was born January 4, 1921 in Lewisville the son of Fred and Minnie (Greer) Wolters. Freddie graduated and received his commission from Texas A&M University 44'. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines.
He was awarded with the Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Service Star, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star and the American Theater Campaign Medal. After returning home, Freddie continued serving his country in the
U.S. Army Reserves, and retired as Col. after 38 years of service.
Coming home from the war, Freddie worked as the supervisor at Texas A&M University farms in the Brazos bottom. He left Texas A&M and went in to the Banking business working for First City National Bank in Bryan now known as Wells Fargo Bank. With his agricultural
background, Freddie was the Farm and Ranch Ag Lending officer at the bank.
Freddie served on many committees in the Bryan-College Station area. He was a life-member of the College Station Noon Lions Club and served District 2-S3 as Governor 1973-1974, the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159, V.F.W. Post No. 4692, First Baptist Church
in Bryan and the Business Men's Sunday School class.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary M. Wolters of Bryan; daughters and son, Pamala Boyd of Rolla, Missouri, Tim Wolters of Midland, Deiadra Stevenson of Dripping Springs and Deborah McIntyre of Rolla, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
