Ballroom Dance Association Steps Out With Flair

Stephanie Cannon '06 December 6, 2011 11:37 AM

Christopher Porter ’11, president of the Texas A&M Ballroom Dance Association, says there is no better way to express passion than through the art of dance. His group, with support from The Association of Former Students, provides A&M students with opportunities to learn and participate in ballroom dancing through lessons and social dance parties.

“People assume that our dance lessons are taught by students, but TAMBDA strives to make the classroom
experience as authentic as possible by providing a qualified instructor,” Porter said. Funding from The Association helped TAMBDA secure an instructor for the remainder of the year, allowing students to sharpen their tango, waltz and polka. “It is through The Association of Former Students that the Texas A&M Ballroom Dance Association is able to provide quality instruction to students aiming to benefit from all that the art of ballroom dance has to offer,” Porter said.

Along with giving back to students through lessons, TAMBDA also gives back to the Bryan-College Station community by making special appearances with their Performance Team and participating in service projects throughout the area.
