EDWARD FENTON FULLWOOD
EDWARD FENTON FULLWOOD of Green Valley, Ariz., died suddenly on Oct. 7, 2011, aged 93. He was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Tucumcari, N.M., to Robert Alonzo Fullwood and Allie May Fenton Fullwood.

When he was 10 months of age, his family moved to Hereford, Texas, on a motorcycle with a sidecar. Ed graduated from Hereford High School in 1935, and Texas A&M in 1940. He served his country in the Army Signal Corp[s] throughout World War II in New Guinea and Australia and was discharged in 1945 as a major in the Reserves.

He married Helen Watson in 1942. Following the war, Ed joined Ohio Medical Products in Madison, Wis., where he worked his entire career, retiring in 1980 as Vice President of Engineering.

Widowed in 1983, he married Connie Grimsley Merker on June 15, 1985, his wife of 26 years who survives him. They moved to Green Valley in 1992. He is also survived by his son, Michael David Fullwood (Lou Marotta), New York, N.Y., and Palm Springs, Calif.; his daughter, Candice Elaine Singletary (Van), Chapel Hill, N.C.; and a grandson, Michael Morgan Singletary, Winston-Salem, N.C., as well as stepchildren Michael Merker (Linda), Seattle, Wash.,; Karen Weis (Paul), Rockford, Ill.; and Tom Merker (Dana), Oregon, Wis.; nine step-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, and two step- great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Walser of Amarillo, Texas; Dorothy Noland of Hereford, Texas; and Catherine Slay of Houston, Texas; and he is survived by his brother, Ralph Fullwood of Los Osos, Calif.

In retirement, Ed was active with Green Valley woodworkers, creating fine decorative wood items. He loved life, travel and fishing in Canada and Lake Michigan. He was a member of Green Valley Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge and Green Valley Country Club.

Services will be held at the Green Valley Mortuary on Oct. 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Green Valley Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
