Bert E. Booth
October 25, 1925 - September 15, 2011

Bert E. Booth, age 85, of Temple passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 17 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Booth was born on October 25, 1925 in Callahan County to J. W. (Bud) Booth and Ada Olivia Owens Booth. He graduated from Moran High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Forces during WWII. While serving in Italy he attended the University of Florence. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1950 with a degree in agricultural engineering. He was a registered professional engineer. He married Lois Marie Kennedy on April 4, 1953. He was with the USDA-SCS from 1950 to 1988. He was a project construction engineer, supervising construction of floodwater retarding structures in the Central Texas area. His career took him to various offices in the Rio Grande Valley, Fort Worth and Temple. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple where he was a deacon and a Sunday School teacher and was involved in the nursing home ministry where he gave devotions at Temple Living Center West and Garden Estates. He also was involved in the bus ministry. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Road to Recovery, Meals on Wheels, Churches Touching Lives for Christ and was a past president of Golden K Kiwanis Club of Temple.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois M. Booth, one son, John Booth and wife, Cindy of Giddings, two daughters, Suzanne Copeland and husband, Jay of Temple and Lynelle Evans and husband, Brian of Austin; eight grandchildren, Laura Copeland Neal and husband, Michael of Hurst, Brett Copeland and wife, Becca of Katy, Scott Copeland of Temple, Tyler Booth of College Station, Caleb Booth and wife, Ashton of Giddings, Jordan Booth of Fort Hood, Erin Evans of Brownwood and Michelle Evans Cleveland and husband, Jack of Arlington and two sisters, Margie Gardner of San Antonio and Evangeline Vita of Allen.

Memorial donations may be made to Churches Touching Lives for Christ, P. O. Box 4482, Temple, TX 76505.
