HAMPTON TOWNSHIP — Jay R. Youngs, 78, of Hampton Township, Allegheny County, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, in UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Clifton Springs, N.Y., to the late Wallace I. and the late Edna Rotigal Youngs. Mr. Youngs was a graduate of Meadville High School in 1950. He next graduated from Texas A&M in 1954. Upon his graduation, he served as an officer in the Army for 10 years until his attendance at Purdue University, where he received his masters degree in 1965.

Mr. Youngs then moved his family back to their roots and became a bank manager originally with PNB, which later become PNC Bank. He managed the office of the downtown branch on Penn Avenue. Later, Jay managed the Homestead office for several years until he moved to manage the West View office until his retirement in 1995.

Throughout his life, Jay was an avid fisherman, hunter and overall lover of nature. He loved to go to “The Camp” in Ludlow, as well as precious fishing trips to Canada.

Jay remained an active member of Hampton Presbyterian Church and occupied his little downtime with crossword puzzles and reading.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy (Hazen) Youngs, of Allison Park; sons Christopher (Lisa) Youngs, of Cochranton, and Michael (Bonnie) Youngs of Meadville; daughter, Caroline (George) Hunzeker of Richland Township; grandchildren, Cassandra McKinney of Bloomfield, Jeffrey Youngs of Cochranton, Marisa Youngs of Cochranton, Andrew Youngs of Meadville, Brittany Hunzeker of Richland Township,Morgan Youngs of Meadville, and Madeline Hunzeker, of Richland Township.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, with a memorial service at the funeral home immediately following. The Rev. Ted Martin will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hampton United Presbyterian Church, 2942 E. Hardies Road, Gibsonia, Pa., 15044, or to the Hampton Community Library, 3101 McCully Road, Allison Park, Pa., 15101.
