Philip Bert Fisher
'Buddy'
Mr. Fisher died Wednesday, March 30, 2011. He was almost 85 years old. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Mike and Fannie Fisher. Mr. Fisher was an Eagle Scout by the age of 16. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Texas
A&M, where he "lettered" in swimming three years. He also served in the Navy during World War II. Buddy was a Charter Member of Carolina Golf Club and a very devoted golfer.
In 1953, Buddy started United Scrap Inc. which he and his twin brother Jerry developed into a successful scrap processing company and Buddy operated until his death. He often jokingly claimed that he was one of the original "recyclers" as we know of recycling
today. The Company purchased all grades of ferrous and non-ferrous metals to be shipped to refineries for reprocessing and re-use.
Mr. Fisher will always be remembered for his unprecedented devotion to his wife of 46 years, Paula Reita Fisher, who died in October 2010. He is survived by two children, Shaun Fisher Fellers and William C. Fisher and his wife, Jane Sams Fisher. He has four
grandchildren: Berkeley Elizabeth Fellers; William C. Fisher, Jr.; Anna Sams Fisher; and Megan Talbird Britton Fisher.
Special thanks are given to his doctors, Bernard Reen, M.D., Robert Allen, M.D., Loren Kane, M.D. and nurse, Mary Vernon. The family would also like to thank the Rev. Lisa G. Saunders for all of her prayers, commitment, support and guidance, without which we
could not have lived.
Buddy is survived by his twin brother, Jerry Fisher, and his wife, Sheila, their three children, Nicki Fisher Ostrow; Jeff Fisher and wife, Valerie; Neil Fisher and wife, Debbie; and their children, Diana Levine Smith and her husband, Brennan, and son, Logan,
Alyssa Levine, David Levine, Zack Fisher and Hannah Fisher, and Natalie Fisher, Casey Fisher and Jamie Fisher.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m., at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. After the service, the family will greet friends in the Gathering Room. In lieu of flowers, contributions
in his memory may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, or Jewish Family Services, 5007 Providence Road, Suite 105, Charlotte, NC 28226. TH Robertson Funeral Service Lic. is serving the family.
