Scott Patton(1957-2011)
Funeral services were held April 2, 2011 at the Fort Belvior Chapel in Fort Belvior, Va. for Colonel Scott Edward Patton, 53. Scott was born on Aug. 4, 1957 in Dallas, and died on March 25, 2011 in Springfield, Va. He attended Texas A&M University and served as Deputy Corps Commander, Ross Volunteer, and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a BS in agricultural economics in 1979.

He was a Colonel in the U.S. Army where he served 28 years. He was commissioned as an armor officer and transitioned to the aviation branch, where he flew OH-58's, AH-64's and other aircraft. Throughout his military career Scott served in a wide variety of command and staff positions both CONUS and OCONUS to include serving as Commander, 4th Squadron, 3d ACR; Chief, Chairman's Exercise Branch, JCS-7, Pentagon; Corps G-3, 3rd TU Corps, NATO, Istanbul, Turkey; and Chief, Army Initiatives Group (AIG), G3/5/7, Pentagon. He was a Veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm serving in Saudia, Arabia and Kuwait. Scott was a graduate of the National War College and was a qualified Joint Service Officer and Strategic Planner. His military career culminated in a professorship at the National War College at Ft. McNair.

After retirement, Scott worked for the Boeing Company (Washington D.C. Office) as a Manager for the National Security Assessment Group, Boeing Defense, Space, and Security from 2007 to 2011. Scott was a leader and a mentor to many throughout his life.

Colonel Patton was the son of James Wallace Patton, deceased, and Beulah Faye Patton of Ionia, Mich., both former Sherman residents. He is survived by his wife Eleni Brown Patton, of Springfield, Va., his son Blake Edward Patton of Albuquerque, N.M., his mother Beulah Faye Patton, the former Beulah Faye Cook of Sherman, now of Ionia, Mich., and his sister and her husband, Kathy and Fred Tinney of Springtown, and his sister and her husband Donna and Thomas Rossbottom of Ionia, Mich., his nephew James Hopper of Conway, Ark., and his wife's parents Chris and Carolyn Kalivretenos of Hyattsville, Md. His grandparents are deceased but they once resided in Sherman. They are Benjamin Franklin Patton, Grace Margaret Patton, and Willie Pierce Cook and Pearl Dona Cook.

He will forever be remembered as a family man, soldier and a friend. He will be loved and missed everyday.
