Roll Call Tribute

Doña "Chemine" Peters '85 March 22, 2011 8:45 AM

Published in Austin American-Statesman on August 25, 2010

Doña Chemine Doty Peters
Doña Chemine Doty Peters Apr. 24, 1963 - Aug. 20, 2010 In loving memory of Doña Chemine Doty Peters who passed in spirit the morning of August 20, 2010 at the young age of 47. Chemine spent the last days of her life journey surrounded by her loving husband Tim Peters, their four children Natalie, Brennen, Blake and Trevor, her parents Bill and Pat Doty and many other close family members and life-long friends. Hundreds more joined them with thoughts, prayers, comfort and love from around the world as she fought to win her battle with cancer.

Chemine was born on April 24, 1963 in Houston and attended Clear Lake High School. She was awarded a full athletic scholarship to Texas A&M University for volleyball where she was twice selected All Southwest Conference and a candidate for the US National Team. After four years at A&M, Chemine completed her studies at the University of Houston in Clear Lake where she graduated with honors.

On August 11, 1985 Chemine married her high school sweetheart Tim and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she took a job with Chevron. While in Northern California, Chemine and Tim were blessed to receive daughter Natalie and son Brennen. They returned to Houston soon thereafter and were again blessed with sons Blake and Trevor as the loving family grew and prospered in God's grace.

After 7 years, they moved to beautiful North Carolina and developed their love for the outdoors and boating. Chemine and Tim both took positions at Dell in 1997, moved their happy family to Austin, Texas and built a warm, inviting home overlooking Lake Travis. After nine years in Austin, the Peters family moved to Singapore and relished in the excitement of living in Southeast Asia.

While living abroad Chemine became an avid tennis player, generous hostess of frequent fun-filled parties, yachting enthusiast and she developed an interest in Asian art and antiquities. Chemine prioritized time with her family and traveled often to attend sporting events to cheer her children throughout Southeast Asia for high-school and state-side for college games. She found tremendous joy traveling the world with husband Tim experiencing exotic locales and romantic getaways. Although Chemine was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002, she chose to live a fulfilled and active life that embraced each new day with loving focus preparing her children for adulthood. Her courage was radiant with an incredible will to live and love everyday as if her last. Not to let cancer rule her life, she put her family first and never let one day go by without making sure they knew she loved them with all her soul. Chemine was married to Tim for 25 years and they spent every moment together or with their four children appreciating what the Lord made possible.

Chemine's radiance touched the lives of all she met in a warm, comforting manner with undeniable charm and grace. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends from around the world. She is that special.

A celebration of Chemine's life is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on August 27th at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, Texas.
