Edward Jackson "Ned" Tankersley Jr.

Edward "Ned" Jackson Tankersley Jr., 85, of Bryan, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. A special memorial celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, with the family receiving friends at 1
p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas.
Ned was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas on November 16, 1925 to Edward Jackson and Ruby Knox Smith Tankersley. He worked in his family's famous San Antonio restaurant "Tankersley's" teakhouse for many years. He attended school at Edison High School where
he was their star quarterback and the youngest to have ever played. He graduated a year early to join the Marine Corp[s] in 1942, serving as an artillery officer and eventually retiring as a Major.
He was a proud Aggie, graduating with a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in 1946. He worked as a General Insurance Agent most of his life. He was also member of Bryan Rotary Club.
He married Donna Hotek Stalnecker on February 18, 1989 in Shreveport, La. and they moved to Hearne Tx. where they live for 19 years, recently moving to Bryan 3 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVera Clayton Tankersley; brother, Robert Clayton Tankersley; and stepdaughter, Laura Stalnecker Lewis.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Donna Tankersley; daughter, Laura Tankersley and her partner, Suzanna Alley, of Austin; grandchildren, Amanda Collins, Samantha Flores, Gabriel Glenn, Jacob Glenn, and Eric O'Brien; four great-grandchildren, several
cousins, nephews, and great-nephews and nieces.
