Vernon F. 'Vern' Tilley
Funeral services for Vernon F. "Vern" Tilley of Riverton are at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. The Rev. Linda Norris of the First Presbyterian Church of Riverton will officiate.

Mr. Tilley died Friday night, May 14, 2010, at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton. He was 78.

Vernon Forrest Tilley was born on Feb. 3, 1932, in Pearson, Miss., the son of Vernon Forrest Tilley, Sr. and Olive (Nuckles) Tilley.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of Texas A&M University.

He married Helen Story on Sept. 19, 1959.

Mr. Tilley was a petroleum engineer for Amoco, supervising oil and gas production.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Riverton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His family said Mr. Tilley enjoyed following Texas "Aggie" football and the Dallas Cowboy football team.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Story) Tilley of Riverton; daughters, Kathryn Hockla and her husband Dennis, and Robbie Niesen and her husband Robert; four grandchildren, (seven) great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. (His sister Nell Witt resides wihther husband, Buddy, in Kansas City MO.)

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Olive (Nuckles) Tilley; a brother, two sisters, a daughter Judith Befus, and one grandson.
