Sam Hay Harper, Jr. 79, passed away on November 30, 2010. Sam was born in Houston, TX, October 7, 1931.

He lived in Houston until 1959, when he moved to San Antonio. Sam attended San Antonio Academy before finishing high school at Lamar in Houston. He obtained his B.S. degree, in Mechanical Engineering, at Texas A&M College - Class of '53. Following a few years in the Army, Guided Missiles Branch, Sam spent his professional engineering career in the HVAC industry. Those years were spent with the Trane Company, Westinghouse and Paschal-Harper, Inc., before establishing S.H.H. Engineering.

He loved his family, his country, and the great outdoors. Sam was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers, Christ Episcopal Church, ASHRAE, Sons of the American Revolution, and other organizations. Those who knew him will remember his integrity, intelligence and remarkably sharp wit.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bettie. Sam is survived by his daughter, Kelley Harper Wynne; son-in-law, Don R. Wynne III; son, Sam Hay Harper III; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Shaw Harper;
grandchildren, Stephen Harper Wynne, Elizabeth Bonnell Wynne, Hannah Blue Harper, Sam Hay Harper IV, and Harriett Blue Harper. Sam/Dad/Grandad will be greatly missed.
