Lester Dillon Jr.

LTC Lester Reed Dillon, Jr., United States Army, Retired, Boerne, Texas, died November 11, 2010. Born April 6, 1922 in Swisher County, Texas. A resident of San Antonio and Bexar County since 1929, graduate of Brackenridge High School, class of 1940, Texas A&M University, class of 1945 and University of North Texas, Colonel Dillon served 26 years in the Army, retiring in 1968. He served during World War II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War, with assignments in the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Germany and Pakistan. Following Army retirement, Colonel Dillon was a Professor of History at San Antonio College from 1969 through 1985.

Member of St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne, AF&AM Anchor Lodge #424, Society of Mayflower Descendants, sons of the American Revolution, San Antonio Military Officers Association of America, San Antonio Historical Association, and the San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Society.

Survivors: wife Frances Monken Dillon, daughter Georganna and husband Stewart Larsen, son Lester Reed Dillon III and wife Stephanie, grandsons Norman Peter Armitage and wife Natalia Drichko, George Alexander Armitage and Nicholas Dillon Armitage and great granddaughter Marina Frances Armitage.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Monday, November 15, 2010 at the funeral home with graveside services to follow at 1:00 pm in Mission Burial Park South. For personal acknowledgement you may sign the guest book at www.missionparks.com in the obituary section. Arrangements with:
