Railey Butler and the late Mr. Marcus Bernard Butler. As a young man, Marty attended Trinity Heights and was in the first graduating class of Magnet High School in 1983. Marty was an exceptionally intelligent man with many accomplishments to his credit, but was most proud of his children, Emily and Ethan. A few of his honors include, but are not limited to, the Arthur Andersen Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, Jordan and Lechner Fellowships, and the Emory MBA Program's Distinguished Educator Award. Marty was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marietta, GA and at one time served as church treasurer.

Marty was blessed with a never ending sense of humor and quick wit. One of his favorite pastimes was connecting with his many friends on Facebook. He also enjoyed all sports and was an exceptional pool player.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Bernard Butler; and his brother, Larry S. Butler. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mrs. Iva Railey Butler; wife, Robin Blumhardt Butler; his children, Emily Grace Butler and Ethan Marcus Butler; sisters, Judith Butler Smith and husband, Michael "Smokey" Smith; and Cheri Butler Jamison; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
