Dr. Dwayne L. Fitte, DVM, 80, of Marlin, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at his home in Marlin. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips and the Rev. Bill Ashburn officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home.
Dr. Fitte was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Marlin, Texas, to John Maurice and Bernice E. Garret Fitte. He was a
lifelong resident of Marlin and a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a graduate of Texas A&M, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and owned the Fitte Veterinary Clinic and Hospital in Marlin. Dr. Fitte loved to read and conduct Bible studies. He also enjoyed dove hunting. He was an ardent Aggie fan and followed them steadfastly.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Fitte of Marlin; sons, John Mark Fitte of N. Augusta, S.C., Paul Forest Fitte of Groesbeck, and Malcolm Dave Fitte of Mexia; daughters, Martha Rose Lane of Groesbeck and Rachel Ann Heer of Urbandale, Iowa; sister, Ruth Cadie Davison of Bryan; grandchildren, Cliff Fitte of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Matthew Fitte and Jonathon Fitte, both of Ft. Worth, Adam Fitte of Midland, Amanda Summey of Plano, Lauren Fitte of Austin, Madeline Heer and Meredith Heer, both of Urbandale, Iowa, and Jonathan Stevener of Groesbeck; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken Garrett, John Fitte, Matt Fitte, Jeff Davison, Cliff Fitte, and Adam Fitte. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Evans, Tom Geib, Billy Engelke, Tom Davison, Ed Moody, Joe Edwards, and
Larry Walker.
