Gustav Emmett Lechow (73) of Marble Falls passed away July 24, 2010 with his loving wife, Marie, at his side after a short but courageous battle with liver cancer. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was born in Austin, Texas on October 6, 1936 to Beryl Mae Fowler Lechow and Gerhard Gustav Lechow.
Gus was an entomologist for Delta Crop Dusting while at Texas A&M, salesman for Wayne Feeds in Austin, and math teacher in the Marble Falls Middle School. He graduated from Texas Technological College in 1958 and Texas A&M College in 1963. Gus loved raising horses. Along with his brother-in-law, Buddy Fowler, he raised many horses for pleasure, rodeo and racing. An avid hunter and fisherman, the Colorado River and the Pedernales River were a constant draw for Gus and his fishing friends for many years. He instilled a love of fishing and hunting in his sons and their friends. Gus was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls.
Gus was a proud Papa Gus. He had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren... ten girls, three boys, which was a big change from having had three sons. His parents, and granddaughter Samantha Faye Lechow, predeceased Gus. Survivors include his wife, Marie Fowler Lechow, of Marble Falls, who has loved him with all her heart for 45 years, his sons, Lance Lechow and wife Betsy of Liberty Hill, Texas, Larry Lechow of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Coy Lechow and wife Lisa of Liberty Hill.
