Ira Foster
Ira "Bud" Foster, 82, of Lehighton, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, in his home. He was the husband of Helen (Rex) Foster for 49 years.
He was an industrial engineer for Mack Trucks, Allentown, before retiring in 1997. Previously, he worked for U.S. Steel in Bethlehem.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Hilbert and Grace (Hess) Foster.
He was a 1945 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and also graduated from Letatorune College in Texas and from Texas A&M with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950-52
He was a member of God's Missionary Church, Lehighton.
Ira was an avid hunter. He loved restoring cars and playing practical jokes on his family.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, David Ira, and his wife, Christine, of Aspers, Pa., and John Craig, and his wife, Natasha, of Tamaqua; two daughters, Lori Ann, wife of Lawran Wimberly of Leesville, S.C., and Trudi Grace Foster of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jarrod and Joshua Miller and Skyler, Kyle and Evan Foster; and three great-grandchildren, Avery, Garrett and Nathanial Miller.
Service: Funeral service with military honors 11 a.m. Saturday July 3, God's Missionary Church, 135 N. Sixth St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Marvin Mosley officiating. Interment, private.
