Classmates,
Last Nov 7, 2009, the Kaufman County Vietnam Memorial Committee made the Traveling Vietnam Wall a permanent part of the Kaufman County Memorial Park. The dedication was a great success and continues to be well attended by Vietnam Vets from all over including many who are bussed from VA Hospitals. Our class was well represented at the dedication and the keynote speaker was Col. Shady Groves '68. We had a perfect 4 ship flyover by Four T-38's from my old Squadron at Laughlin AFB. We are in need of funds to continue our plans to build a Visitor Center and Gift Shop to augment the Wall. This will allow the veterans, family members, and friends to look up someone's name on the Wall and/or purchase a keepsake in memory of them. We need to raise another $500,000 so if you can help or know someone who would be interested, let me know. $1000 buys your name on an 18' X 18" stone that will be placed in the walkways on the memorial grounds. There are Vets who have never seen the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC, but they can make to the replica Wall in Kaufman, Texas!
Thanks, Jim Thompson '68
