Published in Chicago (IL) Suburban Daily Herald on July 11, 2010 BRENDA LEE BUCHANAN Brenda Lee Buchanan A funeral Mass for Brenda Lee Buchanan (nee Leikam), will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17. The Mass will be at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove. Brenda Buchanan of Hearne, Texas, was born Nov. 3, 1951, in Prairie View, Ill., to Leland and Verdell Leikam. She passed away Monday, July 5, 2010, at the age of 58. Brenda was the second oldest of eight children, and had three sons from her first marriage. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1992 with a degree in horticulture, and worked for many years as a florist and most recently as office manager at Scarmardo Gin. Brenda moved to Hearne and married Chester Buchanan on Sept. 20, 1997. She was active in the Hearne Volunteer Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Daniel Leikam. Brenda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Chester Buchanan; three sons and spouses, Michael and Betsy Hoeinghaus, David and Ana Paula Hoeinghaus and Geoffrey Hoeinghaus; two granddaughters, Ava and Hannah Hoeinghaus; parents, Lee and Verdell Leikam; six siblings and spouses, Bruce Leikam, Jeff and Gayle Leikam, Mark Leikam, Keith Leikam, Janice and Carlos Vidrio, and LeAnne and Jon Peterson; five nieces and nephews, Tim Vidrio, Danielle Peterson, Dylan Peterson, Ryan Vidrio and Melanie Leikam; stepdaughter, Michelle Blakema and husband, Jordan; four sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and spouses, Shirley Jones, Mary and Bill George, Dottie and Mark Pollack, and Charles and Elizabeth Buchanan; and many dear friends.
