Davie Lee Richmond
Davie Lee Richmond, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully in
his sleep on Monday, August 16, 2004. Dave was born in Huntington, Arkansas on April 14, 1932 and moved his family from Texas to Arizona in 1967. He graduated from Texas A & M and was proud to be an Aggie. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil scientist and retired as the state soil scientist for the state of Arizona in 1994. He was a loving father, a faithful husband, and a man of God. He was a soft spoken man of few words, but could captivate an audience of both young and old. Many children knew him as "Grandpa Dave" because they loved to be around him since he was such a kid at heart. He was dedicated and devoted to his family and the love of his life for 43 years. After he and his wife retired, they headed together for new adventures. They worked at temporary firms, traveled to Europe, and went "junkin'." Dave loved music and his wife, and combined the two when they decided to take country swing lessons. They were partners on the floor and in life, until cancer took her from him. Dave and his partner for life are now reunited and lighting up the dance floor and the skies. He is survived by his daughter Kay Richmond-Lewis; son Kyle Richmond; mother Joy B. Richmond of Harlingen, TX; sisters Flo Ann Chubbs of Corpus Christi, TX; Peggy Stewart of Harlingen, TX; and two grandchildren: Kara Lewis and Austin Lewis. A memorial service will be held at the Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, August 21, at 2:00 pm. An afternoon reception will take place following the service at the Richmond residence.
