Daniel Charles Kunkel, 60, of Burton, passed away on May 14, 2008 at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, Houston, after a short illness. Daniel was born in Burton on March 17, 1948 to Felix and Esther Koerth Kunkel. He was baptized at St. John''s United
Church of Christ on May 9, 1948 by Pastor E. H. Schwengel and confirmed his faith at St. John''s UCC by Pastor Jewel Johnson on April 15, 1962. Daniel graduated from Burton High School as the valedictorian in 1966. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated
in 1971 with a Bachelor of Architecture. Daniel had a great sense of imagination and humor. He enjoyed his work as a professional photographer. He was a dedicated member of St. John''s United Church of Christ his entire life, serving on church council and
the building committee in numerous positions. Daniel designed and oversaw construction of St. John''s building additions. He was a member of the Washington County A&M Booster Club, Texas A&M Former Students Association, Texas Farm Bureau, Wedding and Portrait
Photographers International, and Texas Professional Photographers Association, Inc. Survivors include his mother, Esther Koerth Kunkel, numerous cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Kunkel, and by his grandparents. Funeral
services for Daniel Kunkel will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Mr. Greg Felder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and
friends will take place Friday, May 16 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Stephen Draehn, Scot Sommerlatte, Brandon Marth, E. J. Muehlbrad, Gene Fuelberg, and Curtis Fuchs. Honorary pallbearers are Vicki
