Miksch
LeRoy was born March 29, 1932 in Weimar, to Fred Miksch and Margaret Bruns Miksch. He passed away Oct. 1, 2004 in Richmond.
He was the former Needville Independent School District superintendent and Needville mayor. LeRoy was active in numerous organizations, including The Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Needville Branch of Senior Citizens, Fort Bend Central Appraisal
District board, Needville Area Chamber of Commerce, Needville Little League, and St. Michael's Society of St.
Vincent de Paul.
He was a director of Fort Bend Senior Citizens, chairman of Needville High School Scholarship Fund-raising committee, lifetime member of PTA and honorary member of the FFA. He served on the church board at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
LeRoy was captain of the Texas A&M basketball team. He was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame for High School Basketball. He served as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent of Needville Independent School District.
LeRoy also served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
LeRoy will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Miksch.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Agnes Miksch of Needville; sons, Randy Miksch and wife, Marian, of Sweeny, and Ronnie Miksch and his wife, Kerrie, of Austin; daughter, Cindy Miksch of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Bradley, Brett, Dustin,
Tyler, Kaylee and Mikenzie Miksch; brothers, Norman Miksch and wife, Margie, of Winnie; and Thomas Miksch and wife, Mary Jane, of Moss Hill; brothers-in-law, Dennis Bartness and wife, Margo, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Frank "Doc" Kalinec and wife, Sue, of
College Station; also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be representatives of his first basketball team in Needville.
For those wishing, memorials may be made in LeRoy's name to the following charities, St. Michael's Building Fund, 9202 Main, Needville, Texas, 77461; Needville Ministerial Alliance, Needville Food Bank at the Immanuel Church of Christ, or the Needville Branch
of Senior Citizens.
