Ernest Keith Langford
Ernest Keith Langford, loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, broke his earthly bonds and passed into the eternal presence of the Lord on August 18, 2006. Keith was born in Bryan, TX on June 17, 1917, to Lela and Ernest Langford. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1934 and Texas A&M University in 1939. Keith worked for Humble Oil & Refining Co., Johns-Manville, Inc., and Texas Construction Materials Company before creating his own company, Superior Sand & Gravel in Houston in 1966. He sold his company in 1978 and purchased A&M Travel Service in College Station. Keith served in World War II from April, 1941 through August 1945, and experienced the beaches of Normandy, and the liberation of Dachau. He was discharged with a rank of Major after which he served in the Army Reserves for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service. Keith loved Texas A&M, its rich history and traditions with all his heart. His boyhood home was where Kyle Field now stands, and his first job was as a water boy to the construction crew building the first level of Kyle Field. Except for his years in World War II he attended every Aggie home football game from the time he was eight years old until his health no longer permitted. After WWII he attended every game, home and away, until his health failed. Keith's father chaired the School of Architecture for 24 years and was Mayor of College Station for 26 years. Keith is survived by the light of his life for 59 years, JoAnn, 2 children, David Keith Langford and wife, Myrna, and Suzanne Letch and husband, Jerry, and 4 grandchildren, Keith B. Langford (wife, Courtney), Robin Langford Russell, (husband Kevin), Campbell Letch (wife Lyndi) and Craig Letch (wife Jennifer). He was blessed with 6 great grandchildren: Guthrie Giles, Lillian Pearl, and Harlan James Russell, Henry David 'Huck' Langford, and Aden Kathryn and Lawson Campbell Letch. The family would like to express our appreciation for the care provided by Dr. David Buras, Dr. Gordon Mitchell, and to Brazos Valley Hospice. We also extend our love and affection to Keith's devoted caregivers: Leticia Carrias, Frank Pitts, and the other members of the Carrias family. The family invites all to the Visitation at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th, Bryan, 77803, on Tuesday evening, August 22 from 6 8 pm, and to the Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church, Bryan, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm. Serving as pallbearers are: grandsons Keith, Cambell, Craig, and Kevin, nephew Douglas Burkley, and cousin Gabe Sansing. Honorary Pallbearers are: Joe C. Richardson Jr., R.C. Slocum, Bob Wright, Emory Bellard, Harry Green, Tom Wilson, Billy Pickard, and Marvin Tate. The family suggests that memorials be considered for: The 12th Man Foundation, P.O Drawer L-1, College Station, TX, 77844; First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Carter Creek Parkway, Bryan, TX, 77802; Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, TX, 77803; or any worthy cause of your choice.
