Bruce LeRoy Fowler 

January 13, 1934 - March 10, 2024 

Bruce LeRoy Fowler was born January 13, 1934, in Grants Pass, Oregon and joined his heavenly Father on March 10, 2024, at 90 years old. He grew up in southern Washington, attending Walla Walla High School, then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953. He married Jane Hunter, the love of his life, in 1955 in Brownsville, Texas.

Bruce received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Omaha and his master’s in computing science from Texas A&M University. He served overseas during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, accumulating over 13,000 pilot hours. He spent 12 years at the Pentagon and 3 years at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, retiring as a Colonel from the Air Force in 1979. Bruce and Jane moved to Brownsville where he worked as a computer specialist for 10 years. Their last move, in 1990, was to Mason, Texas to farm with his son-in-law, John Haines, and enjoy the country life.

Bruce taught Sunday school for over 40 years and was an active member of the Methodist church in Mason, Texas. He also served in the VFW and American Legion. An avid motorcyclist, he loved riding in the Hill Country and was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association. Bruce belonged to many organizations including the NRA (life member), Texas A&M Association of Former Students Century Club, Air Force Association, and Daedalians.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Myra Fowler, brother Neil Fowler, and daughter-in-law Janene Pulley Fowler.

Bruce is survived by Jane, his wife of 68 years, and their three children: Dayna Fowler Haines (John), Markita Johnson (Ken), and Bruce E. Fowler (Valerie); grandchildren Kassie Eason (Alan), Royce Haines (Alyssa), Kasey Fowler, and Lori Thomas (Brandon); great-grandchildren: TJ Eason and Jameson and Jaxon Haines.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. in the River of Life gym in Mason, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Bruce L. Fowler.
